Harriet's Hope

Globally, millions of people are being subjected into modern-day slavery through forced labor involuntary servitude, debt bondage, or peonage. Trafficking victims require a wide range of services with housing being named as the number one need. Studies show that housing is the main impediment for human trafficking survivors to escape a life of being trafficked. Nationally, there is a shortage of permanent supportive housing exclusive to trafficking victims.  It is our goal as a housing provider to respond to the lack of housing by creating Harriet’s Hope, a multifamily affordable housing development with comprehensive on-site supportive services uniquely tailored to residents who have experienced verified chronic homelessness or one or more human trafficking events. Harriet’s Hope will create housing that promotes healing, hope, and independence.

WHO IS HARRIET

Harriet is a supportive network of providers, partners, advocates & human trafficking survivors who provide support to homeless women and women battling human trafficking.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to bring hope, restoration, freedom, and self-sufficiency to individuals and families exiting the life of chronic homelessness and human trafficking by providing permanent supportive housing.

GOAL

To provide traffick victims and chronically homeless individuals with a place to call home and open access to support partners that are necessary to begin the process of overcoming complex trauma.

Our Community

Harriet’s Hope will provide affordable housing for individual cis and transgendered adult (18 years or older) females that have experienced chronic homelessness or one or more human trafficking events. We will also serve families. Families are defined as the head of the household that is a cis or transgendered female who has experienced chronic homelessness or human trafficking and has one minor (under the age of 18 years old) dependent.

WHAT WE WILL OFFER

Quality, safe, and secure permanent supportive housing that utilizes community partnerships and resources to meet the practical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and financial needs of victims of  Human Trafficking in Central Ohio and to reduce re-victimization.  All supportive services will be provided onsite to the best of our ability to minimize the need to travel.  Supportive services provided will include onsite case management,  trauma-informed therapy,  physical healthcare, job readiness, substance and alcohol abuse treatment, peer-support, and 24/7 trained property management.
